Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,890 people, 945 households, and 855 families residing in the city. The population density was 314.3 people per square mile (121.3/km²). There were 962 housing units at an average density of 104.6/sq mi (40.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.44% White, 0.42% African American, 0.52% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.00% from other races, and 1.31% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.56% of the population.

There were 945 households out of which 44.9% had children under the living with them, 83.2% were married couples living together, 4.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 9.5% were non-families. 7.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 1.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.06 and the average family size was 3.22.
