Lovćen Brigade
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This Sourcethumb|right|Old Flag of the Lovcen Brigade The Lovćen Brigade was an armed force in World War II-Montenegro led by Krsto Zrnov Popović and the Zelenaši. The unit was formed in September, 1942 with the approval of Fascist Italy.
The army was made up of:
- I battalion, (based in Čevo, commanded by Dušan Vuković)
- II battalion (based in Rijeka Crnojevića, commanded by Äoko Drecun)
- III battalion (based in BrÄeli, commanded by Petar Vuleković)
- IV battalion (based in Velimlja, commanded by Risto Radović)
A new paramilitary group was formed by Jevrem Brković of the Doclean Academy of Sciences and Arts, originally bent on forcefully separating Montenegro from its statehood with Serbia, while mostly concentrating on supporting the uncanonical Montenegrin Orthodox Church to seize all Eastern Orthodox churches and monasteries.
