Louisville Stakes

The Louisville Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually since 1986 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Formerly the Louisville Breeders' Cup Handicap, the Grade II event run in early May is open to fillies and mares, age three and older. It is contested on turf over a distance of 1 1/16 miles (8.5 furlongs).
