Louis Krasner

Krasner was born in Cherkasy, Ukraine. He arrived in the United States at the age of 5. In 1934 he commissioned Alban Berg's Violin Concerto. He premiered various important works including the concertos by Berg and Arnold Schoenberg. He was leader of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. For many years Krasner was also a professor of music at the Syracuse University
