Lockinge Stakes - 2 reference results
The Lockinge Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Kingdom open to thoroughbreds which are four-years-old or above. It is run over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres) at Newbury Racecourse, and it takes place annually in May.
* The 1984 race was a dead-heat and has joint winners.
It was first run in 1958, and when the Pattern system was introduced in 1971 it was given Group 2 status. Three-year-olds were eligible to run prior to 1995, at which point the race was upgraded to a Group 1 for older horses only. The leading performers often race next in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot. The race is currently sponsored by Juddmonte Farms.
