Viewfinder / previewfinder Notes:
Functionally, there are probably "only" two types of viewfinders (or more accurately, pre-view finders):
- direct, where you look at your subject through the camera, these are generally considered "viewfinders"
- indirect, where you look at your camera (near view) while the camera looks at your subject (distant view), these are generally considered viewfinderless or LCD-only
There are at least three types of implementations of these "viewfinders", especially for digital cameras:
- TTL EL EVF (direct) which is through the lens, eye level, electronic view finder, as in Minolta's DiMage A-series and Z-series cameras.
- TTL LCD (indirect) which is through the lens liquid crystal display, which is also an optional mode of use on Minolta's DiMage A-series and Z-series cameras, an alternate mode on Minolta's DiMage E-series and Konica G-series cameras, and is the only mode on the final Konica Minolta X-series camera.
- DV (direct) which is direct view, not through the taking lens, which is a mode on the Minolta DiMage E-series and X-series cameras and the Konica G-series cameras, and so on.
As noted, some cameras offer two previewing modes.

Note of users of Dimage scanners. The auto brush dust facility can get confused, I suppose just like any scanner at least in theory. I have been scanning a quantity of 35mm slides of various film types and have noticed that the Dimage cannot cope with chain link fencing and rivets under certain lighting conditions and blobs them out. Be aware
