Lieutenancy area
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourceLieutenancy areas are the separate areas of the United Kingdom appointed a Lord Lieutenant - the representative of the British monarch. They have similar demarcation to (but are not necessarily conterminate with) the counties of the United Kingdom.
The Lieutenancy areas of Scotland are subdivisions of Scotland that do not match any other system of demarcation. In England, Lieutenancy areas are known as the ceremonial counties.
