Lauren Lane (born February 2, 1961) is a television and stage actress, best known for her portrayal of C. C. Babcock on the 1990s popular sitcom The Nanny. Lane was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and raised in Texas. She is divorced and has one child, a daughter, Kate (born February 27, 1998).
Sometimes credited as Laura Lane, she began acting in 1984 and has appeared in numerous TV shows such as Hunter and L.A. Law and in several movies. She also has acted on stage. She was a member of The Actors Gang, an experimental theater company headed by Tim Robbins.
Lane graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. She then earned her Master's degree at the American Conservatory Theater. She is currently a professor in the Theatre Department at Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State University) in San Marcos, Texas.
