Melanie Hernandez Calumpad, (born January 5, 1981) better known by her stage name Kyla is a Filipino R&B singer, and occasional actress. She is the only female artist from the Philippines who has won in the MTV Video Music Awards for 2001 MTV's Southeast Asian Viewers Choice Award along with Filipino bands Eraserheads and Parokya ni Edgar. She has collaborated with international artists such as Fra Lippo Lippi, Ronan Keating, British boy-band Blue, and Keith Martin. As of 2008, she is a performer in the television variety show SOP Rules.
Mainstream Success
After the release of her album Not Your Ordinary Girl, she held her Not Just Your Ordinary Girl Concert in the Araneta Coliseum.
As of 2008, Kyla hosts and performs in a weekly variety show, SOP Rules, aired on GMA Network every Sunday afternoons, and a kiddie talent search, Popstar Kids, aired on Q.

Kyla is the third child in her family. She has an older sister, an older brother, and a younger sister. Kyla is currently in a steady relationship with Rich Alvarez of the Red Bull Barakos.
