The
Knollwood estate was famously purchased by King
Zog of Albania in
1951. Located in
Muttontown,
New York, the estate sold for approximately $102,800 although it is claimed that he bought the mansion with a bucket of diamonds and rubies. Although Zog intended the estate to be his kingdom-in-exile, staffed by Albanian subjects, he never moved in. The ruins of the sixty-room mansion are located on Route 106.
