Kiev Voivodeship

The Kiev Voivodeship (Київське воєводство, Województwo Kijowskie) was a unit of administrative division and local government in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania from 1471 until 1569 and of the Kingdom of Poland from 1569 until 1793/1795, part of Małopolska. Under the order of King Casimir Jagiellon, it had replaced the former Duchy of Kiev, ruled by Olelkovich dukes, heirs of Algirdas. First administrative center was Kiev. However Kiev was given to Imperial Russia in 1667 by Treaty of Andrusovo so that her center moved to Żytomierz. Today the region belongs to Ukraine.
