When Justin was five years old, he and his family moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he grew up in a very Christian and musically gifted family. It was his father, Peter York (a music executive at Sparrow Records), himself a skilled guitarist, who taught Justin the instrument.
When he was a teen, Justin got his first major chance to play guitar professionally when Phil Joel (of the Newsboys) invited him to work on his solo album. Justin has had numerous opportunities since then, playing for Paul Alan, Sammy Ward, Steven Curtis Chapman, Joy Williams, and Rebecca St James.
Justin York just finished co-producing new American Christian Rock band Over Ashes with production partner Justin Glasco.
Justin also has a side-project called Cecil Adora, that he is involved in with Ryan Clark, and Van Beasley. As of June 2008 they are currently on hiatus.
