José Félix Uriburu

General José Félix Benito Uriburu y Uriburu (1868 - 1932) was the first de facto President of Argentina, achieved through military force, from September 6 1930 to February 20 1932.

Born in the Argentine province of Salta, former President José Evaristo Uriburu was his uncle. He led a military coup against the President Hipólito Yrigoyen, in which the far-right Argentine Patriotic League participated. The coup initiated the Infamous Decade.

After that, he stayed as head of the government until 1932, implementing several reforms including the cutting of government employees' salaries by more than 10 percent.

After becoming ill in early 1932, he endured a brief period of futile recovery before dying in Paris, France on 20 February 1932.
