Jeremy Dale Unertl (born
September 15,
1978 in
Hartford, Wisconsin) is an
American football defensive back for the
Chicago Rush of the
Arena Football League. He attended the
University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
NFL
Unertl was signed as an
undrafted free agent by the
Green Bay Packers in 2002 but was cut and signed by the
Baltimore Ravens. He was then released at the end of
training camp. He was resigned by the Packers but ended up in
NFL Europe playing for the
Frankfurt Galaxy.
Arena Football Career
Jeremy Unertl then signed with the
Las Vegas Gladiators in 2004, but was released at the end of the season. After his release, he signed with the
Columbus Destroyers in 2005. After getting little playing time is Columbus, Unertl was traded to the
Chicago Rush after week 2 for
Henry Douglas. He immediately became the teams
starting Defensive Specialist and had a break out season. He helped put Chicago on a 3 game winning streak, and was named defensive player of the game in all 3 of the teams wins during that streak. He finished the season as the teams
MVP, finishing the year as the teams leader in tackles, interceptions, and broken up passes. Added 24.0 tackles, 2 interceptions and 7 passes broken up in the teams playoff run which resulted in the team winning its first
ArenaBowl.
