Jack Sullivan served as director and associate director for Dark Shadows (for which he won an Academy Award). He also won an Oscar for assistant directing of The Charge of the Light Brigade.

Sullivan is the great uncle of Beth Sullivan, creator of the TV series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
