Huila, Nevado del, snow-capped volcanic mountain, 17,594 ft (5,364 m) high, on the Huila-Tolima-Cauca dept. border, S central Colombia, in the N
Andes. Located c.50 mi (80 km) SE of Cali, Huila consists of a chain of six volcanic cones, the highest of which is Pico Central; it is the highest mountain in the Cordillera Central range and the second highest in Colombia. Huila erupted in the mid-1500s, then was dormant until 2007.
