Hound sharks are a family, Triakidae, of ground sharks, consisting of about 40 species in 9 genera. In some classifications, the family is split in two, with Mustelus, Scylliogaleus, and Triakis in Triakidae, and the remaining genera in Galeorhinidae.
Hound sharks are small sharks with two large spineless dorsal fins and an anal fin. They are found throughout the world in warm and temperate waters, where they feed on fishes and invertebrates on the seabed and in midwater.
