As of April 12005, the city has an estimated population of 54,404 (19,480 households) and a population density of 1,145 persons per km². The total area is 47.50 km².
The city was founded on October 1, 1991 after gaining the city status alone.
The city is served by Komagawa and Musashi-Takahagi Stations on the JR Kawagoe Line.
History
- 1889-04-01 - Three villages of Komagawa, Koma and Takahagi founded in Koma District
- 1896-03-29 - Koma District abolishes and the villages join Iruma District
- 1955-02-11 - Komagawa and Koma merge to form town of Hidaka.
- 1956-09-20 - Hidaka and Takahagi merge to form new town of Hidaka.
- 1991-10-01 - The town gains city status.
