The
Haryana cricket team is a domestic cricket team based in the
Indian state of
Haryana. The team is run by the
Haryana Cricket Association. In recent times it hasn't been very successful in the
Ranji Trophy circuit. In the past, however, it has produced some of the biggest superstars to go on to play for the
Indian cricket team, including
Kapil Dev. It has won the Ranji Trophy 1 time and come runner-up once.
Competition history
Haryana has never been considered a very strong team in the Ranji Trophy circuit and has only featured in a Ranji Trophy final twice. The first time, in
1986 against
Delhi, resulted in a heavy defeat. Electing to bat first, the Haryana team (captained by
Kapil Dev were all out for 288. They then allowed Delhi to score a mammoth 638, with most bowlers being ineffective. They then went on to be all out for 209 after
Maninder Singh bagged 8 wickets.

This allowed for them to make their one and only appearance in the Irani Trophy, facing a Rest of India side that contained the likes of Sourav Ganguly, Javagal Srinath, Maninder Singh and Vinod Kambli. Haryana won by 4 wickets after being set a last innings target of 204. See Scorecard
