Guan Hanqing (fl. 14th century CE), sobriquet "the Oldman of the Studio" (齋叟 Zhāisǒu), was a Chinese playwright in Yuan Dynasty.
Biography
Guan was born in the capital city of the Yuan Dynasty, Dadu and produced about 65 plays, mostly in Vernacular Chinese of the time. He was considered as one of the Four Great Yuan Playwrights, fourteen of his plays survived, including:- The Injustice to Dou E or The Injustice Suffered by Dou E (竇娥冤 Dou E Yuan)
- Saving the Dusty-windy or Saving the Prostitue (救風塵 Jiu Fengchang)
- The Conference of a Single Dao or Meeting the Enemies Alone (單刀會 Dandao Wei)
- The Pavilion of Moon-Worship (拜月亭 Baiyue Ting)
- Snow in Midsummer
- The Butterfly Dream (蝴蝶夢 Hudie Meng)
