King Glaukias (Ancient Greek: Γλαυκίας, "glaring", from γλαυκός glaukos "glaring"), was an Illyrian of the Taulanti tribe, reigned over Illyria from 317 BC to 303 BC. In 314 BC, Glaukias was defeated by Cassander, successor of Alexander the Great. Cassander reclaimed Dyrrachium and Apollonia for Macedon and forced Glaukias to sign a treaty pledging peace with Macedon and its allies. Glaukias adopted Pyrrhus, the well-known Molossian prince and later king of Epirus. The ancient historian Arrian states that the chieftain Glaukias sacrificed three boys, three girls and three rams just before his battle with Alexander the Great.
