Gilbarco Veeder-Root
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourceGilbarco Veeder-Root, a subsidiary of the Danaher Corporation, is a leading producer of gas pumps and other fuel industry hardware along with Point of Sale systems. Headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, they employ approximately 4,000 people around the world.
Founded in 1865 by Charles Gilbert and John Barker. Later Gilbarco was acquired by the British engineering company GEC in 1987. In 1999 GEC renamed itself Marconi and Gilbarco became Marconi Commerce Systems. In 2002 Gilbarco was acquired by the Danaher Corporation, parent company of Veeder-Root and Red Jacket companies. Gilbarco is among only three major gas pump manufacturers, which are Dresser Wayne, Tokheim, and itself.
Gilbarco was featured on the June 14th, 2008 episode of John Ratzenberger's Made in America.
