Gary Goetzman

Gary Michael Goetzman is an American film and television producer. Goetzman has achieved major commercial success as a film producer and perhaps is best known as co-founder of Playtone with Tom Hanks. Born on November, 6 1952 in Los Angeles, Goetzman began his career as a child actor. After failing to achieve substantial success as an actor, Goetzman began working with director/producer Jonathan Demme by producing the Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense. After proving himself as a competent producer, Goetzman was assigned the executive producer of The Silence of the Lambs in 1991, which fully launched his career. In 1993, Goetzman again teamed up with Demme, in which he acted as the executive producer of the critically acclaimed film, Philadelphia, starring Tom Hanks. It was at this time when he started his working relationship with Tom Hanks and went on to co-found The Playtone Company. Since then, Goetzman has produced hits such as, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Band of Brothers, Evan Almighty and Charlie Wilson's War. Goetzman was the recipient of a prime time Emmy Award for his role as co-producer of the Band of Brothers mini-series. Aside from producing films, Goetzman has been known to play small parts in movies he is connected to, as well as working in the musical departments of many films.
