Gainsford Bruce

Sir Gainsford Bruce (1834 – 24 February 1912), was a Glasgow University educated British politician and, between 1892 and 1904, a High Court Judge. He was knighted in 1892 and in 1904 was appointed a Privy Councillor.

Representing the Conservative Party, Bruce was returned to Parliament for Finsbury (Holborn Division) in 1886.

He specialised in shipping law. He was co-author with R G Williams of the text book "Admiralty Practice".
