Wikipedia

The lead vocalist (or lead singer) is the member of a band who sings the main vocal portions of a song. The lead vocalist can also be playing an instrument as well. They are sometimes referred to as a frontman (or woman), and are usually considered to be the "leader" of the groups they perform in, and often the spokesperson in interviews and before the public. On rare occasions, the frontman is someone other than the lead vocalist.
