"FoodLand" is the name of a regional
American supermarket chain based in
New Stanton, Pennsylvania.
Company background
Foodland operates 80 stores in the
Eastern United States, including 35 throughout
West Virginia, 2 in
southwestern Virginia, 26 in the
Pittsburgh area of
western Pennsylvania, 8 in eastern
Kentucky, 6 in southeastern
Ohio, and 3 in the panhandle of
western Maryland. Their slogan is
"Close to Home." Foodland stores are usually smaller in size with one of the larger stores located in
Kittanning, Pennsylvania. The Kittanning and
Ford City, Pennsylvania stores were the original Metrosplash/Fuellinks test sites for their previous gas program which was changed to the Fueland Rollback Rewards program.
Every FoodLand location is locally owned and operated, with inventory support from SuperValu. To compete with other grocery chains such as Giant Eagle and Shop 'n Save, FoodLand has partnered with Fueland gas stations/convenience stores in the greater Pittsburgh area. All FueLand locations are located just outside the grocery store.
The "FoodLand" name
"FoodLand" is also the name of at least three regional supermarket chains in the United States, the other two being in
Hawaii, where a different but unrelated
Foodland has stores there, while an undetermined number of stores located particularly in
Alabama, share the same logo as the West Virginia-based chain but appear to be otherwise separate.
The name "Foodland," being fairly generic in nature and apparently not a registered trademark, appears as all or part of the name of countless unaffiliated grocery stores throughout the United States, as well as in Australia, Canada, Iceland and Thailand
