Expansion in the late 1990's

In the late 1990's Federal-Mogul pursued a strategy of rapid expansion within its sector and in 1998 acquired, among other businesses, Turner & Newall, a British based automotive products business which had lost focus in the face of asbestos claims.

Chapter 11 Protection

In 2001 Federal-Mogul filed for Chapter 11 Protection after it became embroiled in the litigation associated with its new acquisitions. Various organisations are currently campaigning for better compensation for claimants.

As of December 27, 2007, Federal-Mogul emerged from its Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
