Falling Down (Oasis song)

"Falling Down" is a song by the British rock band Oasis. It was written by the band's lead guitarist and principal songwriter Noel Gallagher. The song appears as the seventh track on the band's seventh album, Dig Out Your Soul. It was released as a download-only single on iTunes on 14 August 2008.

The song was remixed by The Chemical Brothers and was issued as a promo for the upcoming album. The remix was also featured as the B-side on "The Shock of the Lightning" single. On 11 July 2008, this version of the song appeared both on the Internet and on the radio.

The song (which features Noel Gallagher on the lead vocals) is centred around a groove based rhythm section supplied by Zak Starkey's drumming and Andy Bell's bass.

It was reported that a video for the song will be shot, which means that "Falling Down" will most likely will be released as a single in the future.

The lyric: "Catch the wheel that breaks the butterfly" references the quotation: "Who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?" from Alexander Pope's Epistle to Dr Arbuthnot.

The entered in the Dutch Top 100 for 2 weeks, peaking #93.
