Fagernes Airport, Leirin

Fagernes Airport, Leirin (Norwegian: Fagernes lufthavn, Leirin) in Norway serves Fagernes and the surrounding valleys of Valdres, Hallingdal and Gudbrandsdal. Opened in 1987, it is owned and operated by Avinor. The airport is located at an elevation of 829 meters a.s.l, the highest located airport in Northern Europe. The runway is 2060 meters long.

Following the bankruptcy of Coast Air, Air Norway stepped in and is now serving the airport on public service obligation contracts.

The closure of Geilo Airport, Dagali has increased the amount of traffic to the airport, and a number of international charter flights are flown in during the winter with ski tourists for the surrounding ski resorts. The airport had 17,722 passengers in 2005, of them 4,485 on scheduled flights, the rest on charter flights.
