Esther Hicks is an inspirational speaker and best-selling author. She translates blocks of thought (in other words she receives inspiration) from Abraham, a group of non-physical beings. The material she translates is referred to as The Teachings of Abraham ®. She has co-authored eight books with her husband Jerry Hicks and has presented Law of Attraction workshops for Abraham-Hicks Publications in up to 60 cities a year since 1987.

Hay House, Inc. published the Hicks best-selling book, Ask and It is Given, in 2004. Since that ground-breaking book they have also published three more New York Times Best-sellers: The Law of Attraction, The Astonishing Power of Emotions and the Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent as well as the fictional children’s series of Sara books. The Hicks have produced hundreds of DVDs, CDs and journals containing the plethora of on-going wisdom received from Abraham through Esther.

Esther grew up in the mountains of Utah near the ski resort of Park City, Utah. She married her current husband, Jerry Hicks, in 1980 and has one daughter by her former marriage. While Esther was growing up, her father was a non-practicing Lutheran and her mother a non-practicing Mormon. Esther has no religious affiliation with any church but feels a relationship with all religions since her association with Abraham began in 1985.

Outline of Abraham-Hicks' Teachings

Abraham asserts that we create our own reality through our thoughts, that our emotions are constantly guiding us toward where we want to go and that life is supposed to be fun.

The essence of Abraham's teachings since 1986 has been presented as follows:

  • You are a Physical Extension of that which is Non-physical.
  • You are here in this body because you chose to be here.
  • The basis of your life is Freedom; the purpose of your life is Joy.
  • You are a creator; you create with your every thought.
  • Anything that you can imagine is yours to be or do or have.
  • You are choosing your creations as you are choosing your thoughts.
  • The Universe adores you; for it knows your broadest intentions.
  • Relax into your natural well-being. All is well.
  • You are a creator of thoughtways on your unique path of joy.
  • Actions to be taken and money to be exchanged are by-products of your focus on joy.
  • You may appropriately depart your body without illness or pain.
  • You can not die; you are Everlasting Life.

Publications

Since 2004 Hay House has published numerous books by Esther and Jerry Hicks including Ask, And It Is Given, The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham, The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent, The Astonishing Power of Emotions and translations in Spanish and Dutch. Three children's books titled Sara (Books 1-3) are also available.

Their first two books entitled A New Beginning I and A New Beginning II were published by their company Abraham-Hicks Publishing. Abraham-Hicks' output over the past 20 years includes over 600 audio, video tapes, and DVDs on various issues.

A 75 minute introductory audio released under the Creative Commons license is available for download at the official Abraham-Hicks site. It summarizes how the Hicks' were introduced to Abraham. .

The Secret

Esther Hicks also appeared in The Secret, however the footage featuring Esther was later removed in the "Extended Edition" of The Secret due to contractual issues and disagreements over marketing tactics. Esther Hicks commented on the second version of the movie as well as her meeting with Rhonda Byrne, the creator of The Secret, in an interview with Oprah Winfrey on XM radio. Abraham-Hicks Publications has also posted a video on YouTube explaining the circumstances under which they decided to pull out of The Secret.

A DVD entitled Introducing Abraham:The Secret behind the "The Secret" was released by Hay House Studio on April 20,2007
