County Route 574 (Erie County, New York)

Erie County Route 574 is a major thoroughfare north of East Aurora, which is located in Erie County. Known locally as Jamison Road, the road supplies the hamlet of East Elma. The road starts at New York State Routes 16 and 78 south of the hamlet Spring Brook and ends at Reference Route 954G in Marilla, New York. Route 422 was decertified on September 25, 1980 and was given to the county.

Google Maps and Yahoo Maps still list Jamison Road as Route 422. Coincidentally, the eastern terminus still shows Route 954G as New York State Route 358.

History

Erie County Route 574 originated as New York State Route 422 along Jamison Road. Route 422 was an unnumbered route in 1931 and was on its current route by 1935. The road was decertified on September 25, 1980 and replaced with Erie County Route 574. Originally, the eastern terminus of CR 574/NY 422 was New York State Route 358, but that designation was also removed. The road was replaced in 1984 with Reference Route 954G and Erie County Route 547.
