Employment gap

An employment gap is a period of unemployment. Usually, a gap is seen as a period of time that would be greater than the normal transition period from one job to another, or from education to a job (or vice versa). Employment gaps occur for various reasons, some of them seen by employers as respectable (i.e. maternity leave, care for an ill relative), although generally they are viewed with skepticism.
