Elmbridge is a local government district and borough in Surrey, England. Its council is based in Esher. The district has only one civil parish, which is Claygate. It has a boundary with Greater London to the north east and is located almost entirely within the bounds of the M25 motorway.
Two prominent dwellers during the 18° century were Admiral Hopson and Admiral Charles Wager , who found Elmbridge very convenient as it was on the road from London to Portsmouth (cf www//elmbridgemuseum ).
