Einherjer

Einherjer

Einherjer is a viking metal band from Haugesund, Norway, founded in 1993. Some of their albums are heavily Folk influenced, while other albums feature a more traditional black metal sound. Their lyrics retell Norse legends, and each of their albums has its own theme. The band split up in early 2004 after releasing their final album Blot in December 2003. Although they split up, they are traveling on a european tour the summer of 2009. In this tour, they are also going to be playing on the famous Wacken Open Air festival in germany.

In December 2004, all members of Einherjer's last lineup, including the band's founders Frode Glesnes and Gerhard Storesund, founded the Thrash metal band Battered together with bassist Ole Moldesæther.

The band's name is taken from Norse mythology, where the term Einherjar describes the slain warriors that have gone on to Valhalla and joined Odin's table.

In September 2008, Einherjer announced that they would reunite for Ragnarök Festival 6, taking place on April 17 and 18, 2009.
