A.F.C. Sudbury won the league five seasons in a row from 2001 to 2005, but had to settle for third place in the 2005-06 season behind Lowestoft Town who were winning the league for the eleventh time, but the first in 28 years.
The league was among the first to be sponsored by an external company when, in the late 1970s, it was sponsored by local building societies Magnet and Planet, and Town and Country. More recently it has been sponsored by building supplies company Jewson, and under the latest such deal is currently known as the Ridgeons Football League.
