In taxonomy, Dunaliella is a genus of algae, specifically of the Dunaliellaceae.
Dunaliella sp. are motile, unicellular, rod shaped (9 - 11µm) green algae (Chlorophyceae), which are common in marine waters. The organisms is relatively simple to cultivate and does not clump or form chains.
The best-known species is the halophile Dunaliella salina.
