Dorothy Marie "Dottie" Metcalf-Lindenburger was born on
May 2,
1975 in
Colorado Springs, Colorado and married Jason Metcalf-Lindenburger, a seventh grade teacher at the time, in 2000.
She was selected in 2004 as an Educator Mission Specialist, and is currently the youngest NASA astronaut.

Experience
NASA experience
Selected by NASA in May 2004 as an Astronaut Candidate. Astronaut Candidate Training includes orientation briefings and tours, numerous scientific and technical briefings, intensive instruction in
Shuttle and
International Space Station systems,
physiological training,
T-38 flight training, and water and wilderness survival training. Successful completion of this training in February 2006 qualified her as a NASA Astronaut and she is now serving various technical assignments within the Astronaut Office while awaiting assignment to a spaceflight.
