Dominique Mamberti
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourceDominique François Joseph Mamberti (born 7 March 1952) is the current Secretary for Relations with States in the Roman Curia for the Holy See. He was born in Marrakesh, Morocco. On the 20 September 1981 he was appointed parish priest of Ajaccio, France.
Archbishop
He was appointed Titular Archbishop of Sagona on 18 May 2002 by Pope John Paul II and on that same day was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Sudan and Apostolic Delegate to Somalia. He was ordained archbishop of Sagona by Angelo Cardinal Sodano on 3 July 2002. He resigned his position in Somalia and was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Eritrea on 19 Feb 2004.
Secretary for Relations with States
He was appointed Secretary for Relations with States by Pope Benedict XVI on 15 September 2006. This office is generally seen as the Foreign Minister of the Holy See. He also represents the Holy See in international organisations, such as the United Nations.
