Devonshire Regiment

The regiment began its military career in 1685 and was amalgamated into The Devonshire and Dorset Regiment in 1958.
Timeline
- 1685 The Duke of Beaufort's Regiment of Foot (also known until 1751 by the names of ten other colonels)
- 1751 became the 11th Regiment of Foot
- 1782 11th (the North Devonshire) Regiment of Foot
- 1881 The Devonshire Regiment reorganised as the county regiment of Devonshire, encompassing also its Militia and Volunteer infantry
- 1958 amalgamated with The Dorset Regiment, to form The Devonshire and Dorset Regiment
