Deutschnofen (German name; Italian: Nova Ponente, archaic Nova Teutonica (1209) or Nova (1175); Latin: Nova) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 70 km northeast of the city of Trento and about 30 km north of the city of Bolzano, on the border with Austria. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,670 and an area of 112.0 km².
The municipality of Deutschnofen contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Petersberg (Italian: Monte San Pietro) and Sankt Nikolaus/Eggen (Italian: San Nicolò d'Ega), and borders the following municipalities: Aldein (Italian: Aldino), Bolzano (German: Bozen), Bronzolo (German: Bronzoll), Karneid (Italian: Cornedo all'Isarco), Laives (German: Leifers), Welschnofen (Italian: Nova Levante), and the Trento province municipalities of Predazzo Tesero and Varena.
Deutschnofen also holds the villages of Rauth (Novale) and Obereggen (Sopra Ega). There is a church and several cafes and hotels. The majority of the population speaks German, with some speakers of Italian and Ladin. The A22 is located 15 km from the village. Deutschnofen shares 7 km of the frontier with the province of Trento.
The main street in Obereggen is the Obereggen. This is one of the very few paved roads in the centre of Obereggen. There are at least three hotels in this borough, and a network of mountain bike and footpaths on Latemar side. There also are two cable-railways and a ski lift.
