Delta Force Xtreme is intended to be a remake of the original Delta Force series. With new graphics similar to those of Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising and new vehicle usablity combined with the original Delta Force gameplay.

DFX has three single player campaigns with a total of 20 single-player missions similar to those of the original game. However the main focus of the game is its online gameplay feature. There are currently over 60 thousand copies registered on NovaWorld, which are all ranked using an experience points ranking system. There is an awards system which can be kept track of on the NovaWorld homepage.

Gameplay

Power-ups: There are power-ups available to resupply ammunition and health.

Vehicles: Unlike the original Delta Force games, there are now drivable vehicles in Delta Force Xtreme.

Mapmaking

Mapmaking in Delta Force Xtreme is done by the original Novalogic map editer, called Mission EDitor or "MED" that is found in the Delta Force Xtreme game folder. The Joint Operations NILE editor may be used, but the resource directory must be set to the Delta Force Xtreme folder instead of Joint Operations. NILE editor is free for download at NovaLogic's site.

Vehicles

Most of the vehicles are the same as those of Joint Operations, but some are not intended for use by players.

M60 now only have 10 meter range

Bugs

Delta Force Xtreme has some noticeable bugs with vehicles. The NBO-105 sometimes may not fire rockets; the T-80U has bounding volume issues which may allow computer controlled characters to kill the player through the hull. The RHIB's mounted M60 only has a range of 10 meters. There is a bug that causes a crash to desktop when attempting to use the gunner's seat of the Ka-52. The M24 takes two shots just to kill another player.
