Deioneus

In Greek mythology, Deioneus (Δηιονεύς) or Deion (Δηίων) is a name attributed to the following individuals:

  • Son of Aeolus, King of Phocis, and father of Cephalus.
  • Father-in-law of Ixion to-be, Deioneus was pushed into a bed of flaming coals so that Ixion wouldn't have to pay the bride-price.
  • Son of Eurytus the Oechalian.
  • Also called Eioneus, and the presumed mythological eponym of the Thracian city of Eion. This character was the father of Rhesus, according to Homer.
