David Palmer is an American vocalist and songwriter.

He first sang with a group called the Quinames Band, which cut an album for Elektra Records before disbanding. He also briefly sang for 60's group The Myddle Class, who were based in Manhattan's West Village.

He was a vocalist on the first two Steely Dan albums (he sings lead on "Dirty Work," an FM radio staple.). He also co-wrote a number of songs with Carole King, including Carole's #2 hit, "Jazzman."

David Palmer sang lead on some of the tracks on Can't Buy A Thrill, Steely Dan's first album, at the insistence of ABC Records executives, but was relegated to backing vocals on their subsequent release, Countdown To Ecstasy, while Donald Fagen took over as lead vocalist. Palmer left the band after the second album.

After his exit from Steely Dan, Palmer went on to work with Tony Nuccio, as a songwriter, and he later worked with Wha-Koo (which put out three albums before disbanding).

David Palmer also contributed the song "Silhouette" to the 1985 film Teen Wolf. The song plays during the house party sequence where Scott and Boof participate in Styles' "games".
