Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourceDarryl Jones (born December 11, 1961), also known as "The Munch", is an American bass guitarist, highly regarded in both jazz and rock music.
Jones was born in Chicago, Illinois, and attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He joined Miles Davis' band in 1983, playing on the albums Decoy (1984) and You're under Arrest (1985). Jones has worked with jazz artists such as Herbie Hancock's Headhunters, Mike Stern, John Scofield, and Steps Ahead, as well as pop and rock artists Sting, Peter Gabriel, Madonna, Eric Clapton and Joan Armatrading.
Jones has played with the Rolling Stones since Bill Wyman's departure in 1993. He is not, however, an official band member. He has his own Signature Lakland model bass guitar, available in 4 and 5-string versions, with the choice of rosewood or maple fingerboard with pearloid block inlays, 21 jumbo frets and cream neck binding.
