Cwmbwrla

Cwmbwrla is a residential suburb of Swansea, Wales falling within the Cwmbwrla ward. Cwmbwrla located about 1 mile (1.5 km) north of Swansea city centre.

It is predominantly a residential area with just a few local convenience stores. The terrain here is mainly undulating and is set high above sea level. Local amenities include the Cwmbwrla primary school, a day centre for mental health services and Cwmbwrla Park which contains several playing fields including two football pitches. Footballer John Charles was born in the area, Cwmbwrla is also the home of Dole Dynamo Richard Dicky James (former defender of Gendros United, in relation to fellow clubman John Charles), who has represented Gendros United on 2 consecutive seasons, many avid fans of Richard James state that he is a welsh Zambrotta in the making.

The local, but famous football club Cwmfelin Social Club FC hail from the Cwmbwrla area and are based at the Cwmfelin Social Club on Courtney Street. They are the only sporting representatives from the area and they are held dear in the hearts of the local residents. The football team were recently crowned Swansea Division Four Champions and they now look forward to life in Division Three. Despite their predominant youth they promise to be challenging teams from the top divisions in the not too distant future.
