Curing is a term in
polymer chemistry and
process engineering that refers to the toughening or hardening of a
polymer material by
cross-linking of polymer chains, brought about by chemical additives,
ultraviolet radiation,
electron beam or
heat. In
rubber, the curing process is also called
vulcanization.
Concrete curing is a process where the Portland cement in concrete is allowed to react with the water over time, increasing the concrete's strength and hardness. This process can be sped up by use of a cement accelerator.
