Condé Nast Portfolio

Condé Nast Portfolio is a business magazine published by Condé Nast. With the subtitle "Business Intelligence," and featuring high-profile journalists, the magazine considers itself a source for "serious business journalism."

Launch

Portfolio's April 2007 launch was heavily reported on due, in part, to its large estimated budget reported to be from $100 million - $125 million (covering multiple years of operation), as well as the boldness of Condé Nast to launch a business magazine at a time when similar, pre-existing magazines, such as Fortune, Forbes, Business 2.0 are struggling to sell advertising space.

Staff

The magazine's 100-person editorial staff is led by editor-in-chief, Joanne Lipman. During her 22-year tenure at the Wall Street Journal, Lipman was involved in the founding of the Weekend Journal, as well as the Personal Journal. Lipman was able to get numerous notable journalists to leave other publications to come work for her.
