Circle (jazz band)
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourceCircle was an early 1970s avant garde jazz ensemble. Its core members were
- Chick Corea, piano
- Dave Holland, bass
- Barry Altschul, drums and percussion.
For some of its existence it also included Anthony Braxton in a leading role on several reed instruments.
The group's recordings evoke interest in their own right; additionally, they document a period in which Corea's work was steeped in the jazz avant garde, prior to his complete shift to the jazz fusion orientation.

As a quartet:
- Paris Concert (ECM 1018/19), a live concert, documenting the group in quartet format, in which Braxton plays a leading role.
