Chekalin

Chekalin (Чека́лин), formerly known as Likhvin (Лихвин) is a town in Tula Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Oka River. Population: 1,151 (2002 Census); 1,319 (1989 Census). It is the second-smallest town (gorod) in Russia, although it very probably will soon become the smallest, because the only smaller town, Magas, is expected to grow as the new capital of the Republic of Ingushetia.

In 1944, Likhvin was renamed Chekalin in honor of a Soviet partisan Alexander Chekalin.
