Central Eastern Alps

The Central Eastern Alps are the core ranges of the Eastern Alps with the highest peaks, located between the Northern Limestone Alps and the Southern Limestone Alps, from which they differ in geological composition. They extend from the Bernina Range in Graubünden to the west as far as to the lower promontories east of the Mura such as the Hochwechsel in Styria in the east.
